The week you are working, you will be on duty 8:00 am - 5:00 pm during winter months and 8:00 - 7:00 during summer swim season. You will be on call the rest of the time during the week that you work. Volunteers may also assist rangers with wet walks, canoe trips, festivals and special events in the preserve and neighboring communities and other projects when needed.

Each volunteer must work a minimum of 30 hrs/week each. Workdays are typically weekdays but may vary each week and include some weekends for an occasional special program, event or festival. Volunteers will have time off during Thanksgiving and Christmas break. Volunteers have the opportunity to assist other divisions with projects, visit other agencies in the area and training opportunities.

Volunteers must have enthusiasm, enjoy and have experience working with children, good communication skills and flexibility with a changing work-week schedule. A teaching background and knowledge of natural science are a plus but not required. Must be able to hike sometimes in hip deep water on a rough trail in the South Florida heat with long periods of standing! Volunteers are subject to a Federal Government Background Check. This is not a paid position. An R.V. Pad with full hook ups in our volunteer campground is provided. Laundry facilities, pool and weight room are available.

We are looking for Camp hosts for Florida's largest state forest! Our beautiful sights are located in Krul Lake, Bear Lake, Hurricane Lake (North and South campgrounds), Karick Lake (North and South campgrounds), Coldwater Horse Stables, Camp Paquette, Clear Creek OHV Park, and Bone Creek. Camp hosts will be responsible for primarily cleaning the bathrooms and showers, keeping the camp sights clean, doing chlorine water level checks, and also providing campers with helpful information when needed with a smiling face. Most of our park locations are within 30-40 mins from Milton or Crestview Florida and only about 15 mins from Baker FL for groceries. Our camp sites are set among the towering longleaf pine stands, many are within a short walk from the waters edge. We have a myriad of walking, biking, birding, kayaking trails and rivers to tube down. The locations we are wanting to fill soonest are Hurricane Lake South, Bone Creek, Clear Creek OHV Park and Coldwater Stables. This is a volunteer position. Cal-Am Resorts in Arizona has opened hiring for Workampers for the Winter 2026-2027 season! Types of positions and wages include: Food/Drink Runner, Bartender, Cook, Catering Cook, Assistant Restaurant Supervisor ($18-$25/hour). Our regular season is October to May, we take Workampers starting anytime in that timeframe. We ask that you stay until mid-April. Your site rent & utilities (FHU) is covered with roughly* 24 hours a week per site, during fall(Sept-Dec) it is about 14 hours a week. Working at a higher hourly wage will reduce the number of hours needed to cover FHU. Income is available by working over those deduction hours. **Hour requirement above fluctuates due to length of stay, resort you are at and your hourly wage. We offer up to 40 hours a week if you are interested in full time work. *You will receive a W2 for your gross earnings. You must be at least 35 to live on property, we cannot accommodate children, however, you can live off property and work for us. Our commitments are from 10/1/26 until about 5/15/27. We can take Workampers starting anytime in that timeframe but have you stay until at least 4/16/27 and will work with your schedule.
