RV Volunteers are a vital part of the sanctuary operation. Volunteers needed in 6th grade Environmental Education Program 10/4/26 thru 4/3/27. This is a full 6-month position. Selection Priority is given to couples, but singles will also be considered. Main duty is to assist Park Rangers during curriculum-based environmental field trips to the preserve with student groups and occasionally lead groups if needed. This includes helping with group management, safety, and assisting students with the use of scientific equipment. Groups hike through cypress swamps, prairies and pinelands. For much of the season the hike will be in knee-deep water.
Volunteers may also assist rangers with wet walks, canoe trips, festivals and special events in the preserve and neighboring communities and other projects when needed.
Each volunteer must work a minimum of 30 hrs/week each. Workdays are typically weekdays but may vary each week and include some weekends for an occasional special program, event or festival. Volunteers will have time off during Thanksgiving and Christmas break. Volunteers have the opportunity to assist other divisions with projects, visit other agencies in the area and training opportunities.
Volunteers must have enthusiasm, enjoy and have experience working with children, good communication skills and flexibility with a changing work-week schedule. A teaching background and knowledge of natural science are a plus but not required. Must be able to hike sometimes in hip deep water on a rough trail in the South Florida heat with long periods of standing! Volunteers are subject to a Federal Government Background Check. This is not a paid position. An R.V. Pad with full hook ups in our volunteer campground is provided. Laundry facilities, pool and weight room are available.

Forest staff handle campsite reservations for these two sites. Camp host duties include providing information to campers and forest recreators, communicating issues to forest staff, and some minor cleaning of campground facilities. Campground cleaning and trash removal are completed by forest staff during the weekends. Workamper Opportunity! Hello! I'm Mark, an AirBNB super host managing a unique 27-acre glamping venue in the beautiful Central Cascades (Cle Elum). I run this six-site property solo and am seeking some help! Our venue is completely off-grid, offering a truly immersive experience with solar, Berkey-filtered water, Starlink for internet, portable restrooms, a sauna, and access to a stunning spring and river. The outdoor kitchen will be completed by May 22nd. I'm looking for someone who values an off-grid, off-leash lifestyle. What I'm looking for: - You have your own four-wheel-drive vehicle (car campers are welcome!) - You have a well-behaved dog that you'd prefer not to keep on a leash - You're a jack of all trades and not afraid of a little hard work. Timing: Now through October 1st. You'll work 16 hours a week, guaranteed at $20 per hour, with potential for more hours based on needs. Schedule: - Thursday: 8 hours for project work, helping to build an amenity - Friday: 4 hours in the morning to prepare for guest check-in - Sunday: 4 hours after guest checkout This is my first time offering this opportunity, so I appreciate your understanding and support!
