Ample shopping, dining, and entertainment are within 5 minutes. Previous RV host experience strongly preferred, but not required. Birders and nature lovers a plus. RV Volunteers are a vital part of the sanctuary operation. Volunteers needed in 6th grade Environmental Education Program 10/4/26 thru 4/3/27. This is a full 6-month position. Selection Priority is given to couples, but singles will also be considered. Main duty is to assist Park Rangers during curriculum-based environmental field trips to the preserve with student groups and occasionally lead groups if needed. This includes helping with group management, safety, and assisting students with the use of scientific equipment. Groups hike through cypress swamps, prairies and pinelands. For much of the season the hike will be in knee-deep water.

Volunteers may also assist rangers with wet walks, canoe trips, festivals and special events in the preserve and neighboring communities and other projects when needed.

Each volunteer must work a minimum of 30 hrs/week each. Workdays are typically weekdays but may vary each week and include some weekends for an occasional special program, event or festival. Volunteers will have time off during Thanksgiving and Christmas break. Volunteers have the opportunity to assist other divisions with projects, visit other agencies in the area and training opportunities.

Volunteers must have enthusiasm, enjoy and have experience working with children, good communication skills and flexibility with a changing work-week schedule. A teaching background and knowledge of natural science are a plus but not required. Must be able to hike sometimes in hip deep water on a rough trail in the South Florida heat with long periods of standing! Volunteers are subject to a Federal Government Background Check. This is not a paid position. An R.V. Pad with full hook ups in our volunteer campground is provided. Laundry facilities, pool and weight room are available.

Camp Tonkawa Springs RV Park, located in East Texas, is seeking volunteer couples and singles for the 2026 swim/ summer season and for winter 2026. They would be working in the office/housekeeping and maintenance positions. If you work in the office you will be answering the phones, making reservations, checking in campers, collecting fees for swimming etc. Maintenance will be escorting campers to their sites, cleaning sites and bath house, patrolling the swimming area etc. You will be working 1 week on and 3 weeks off for every month you are here. Mountain Home Demonstration State Forest (MHDSF) is seeking Volunteer Campground Hosts for the Frasier Mill, Shake Camp, Hidden Falls, and Moses Gulch Campgrounds. Enjoy the majesty of a giant sequoia forest without the crowds of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks! Managed by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, MHDSF is in Tulare County approximately 22 miles east of the city of Porterville, California. Campgrounds are generally open from May through October, depending on snow and road conditions. The busy season is Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis, except for the ada compliant site at Frasier Mill and the Methuselah Group Campground. Forest staff handle campsite reservations for these two sites. Camp host duties include providing information to campers and forest recreators, communicating issues to forest staff, and some minor cleaning of campground facilities. Campground cleaning and trash removal are completed by forest staff during the weekends. A dirt parking pad, water hookup, bear proof food locker, fire ring, and picnic table are provided in the host sites. Campsites have a bear locker, fire ring, and picnic table. Cell service is extremely limited. The nearest town is Springville, California. The forest has a multitude of trails that take you through old-growth giant sequoias in the Mountain Home Grove, as well as trails that go into the backcountry of Sequoia National Forest, Sequoia National Park, and the Golden Trout Wilderness.
