Lake Houston Wilderness Park is currently seeking camp hosts to live on site in this lushly forested expanse of nearly 5,000 acres. The park is located four miles east of New Caney (approximately 30 miles north of Houston) off Hwy-59. Lake Houston Wilderness Park is the only park in the departments inventory that allows overnight camping. This is not an RV park. Although there is no hunting allowed in the park, there are plenty of other things to do. It offers a variety of outdoor learning experiences for people of all ages including camping, hiking, trail running, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, birding, fishing, and horseback riding. Camp hosts are not allowed to board horses at the park. Most of the park is heavily forested with beautiful trails. The position is a part-time volunteer position assisting with essential end of day and after hours functions related to guest safety, security, maintenance, or other duties along those lines. Other duties may include but aren't limited to custodial, backup cashiering, and nature center duties. In exchange for these work duties the Camp Host will be given a campsite with full hookups, and free use of facilities. Positions can be as little as 10 hours/week in exchange for a FHU site. Camp Host(s) wanted immediately (January 2026) for 88 acre park in Penn Valley, Nevada County, CA. Park offers disc golf course, pickleball courts, picnic areas, rental cottage, stage pavilion, year round creek, swimming hole, farmers' market, ball fields, basketball courts, Bocce ball courts, bike path, two playgrounds, nature walks and dog park. Camp Hosts will open gates at sunrise and close at sunset, unlock and lock restrooms, stock and clean restrooms as needed, track restroom supplies, routine park inspection, post signs for reservations, unlock two specific event areas when reserved, post reservation signs, inform park goers of park policies as needed, contact law enforcement as needed. Monday/Tuesday are most likely days off but we are open to discuss. Bonus points for mechanical, plumbing or irrigation skills. Camp Host will have shady fenced area with full hook up.
