Trail of Tears State Park is located along the Mississippi River near Cape Girardeau, Missouri. There are two campgrounds. The host sites at both campgrounds are full hook up and have 50 amp service. A background check is required for all volunteers. Missouri State Parks uses the Betterimpact.com webpage for volunteer registration. Duties include posting and pulling site reservations, using a tablet to collect fees from first come campers, selling firewood, monitoring vault toilets and shower houses for needs, and if willing and able grounds keeping activities like mowing, weed eating, picking up trash, etc. Currently we need a host for Mississippi River Campground for May and July 2025. Any questions may be answered by Park Supt. Denise Dowling or Asst. Supt. Danny Counts at 573-290-5284. The park is located approximately 12 miles north of Cape Girardeau and 12 miles east of Jackson, Missouri. Trail of Tears State Park is part of the Missouri State Park system administered by the Department of Natural Resources.
